Where can I find my Employer Reference Number?
An Employer Reference Number is given to every business registered with HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) as an employer. It is a unique number used by the tax office to identify your business and is referred to on tax forms (P45, P60) and pay slips as an Employers PAYE Reference.
What is the Employers' Liability Tracing Office (ELTO) database?
The ELTO database gives claimants easy access to their employer’s liability insurance data so in the event of an Employers’ Liability claim the correct insurer can be established.
Why do insurers need my Employer Reference Number?
Insurers need your Employer Reference Number as they are required by law to input this information on the Employers’ Liability Tracing Office (ELTO) database.
