Embracing Technology in the Early Years: A Practitioner's Guide
Fiona Joines is an early childhood education and digital inclusion expert based in Oxford. She has announced the release of her new book, Embracing Technology in the Early Years: A Practitioners’ Guide. The book provides early years educators with guidance on how to use technology in a way that is both effective and developmentally appropriate for young children.
“Technology is a powerful tool that can be used to support children’s learning and development,” said Fiona “However, it’s important to use it wisely and to make sure that it is aligned with children’s individual needs. In this book, I share my insights and experiences on how to do just that.”
Embracing Technology in the Early Years covers a wide range of topics, including:
• The benefits and challenges of using technology with young children
• How to choose the right technology for children’s age and stage of development
• How to integrate technology into the early childhood curriculum
• How to create a safe and healthy technology environment for children
The book also includes a number of practical resources, such as checklists, templates, and activity ideas and will support you whether you work mostly alone such as childminders and nannies, or in teams in settings such as nurseries, schools and pre-schools.
“I hope this book will help professionals across the early years sector feel more confident about using technology in their vital work with young children,” “When used wisely, technology can be a powerful tool for supporting children’s learning and development.”
