Fun family days out over the Easter break!

It’s March already and Easter is just around the corner. Now the weather is finally starting to warm up, we thought it was the ideal time to take a look at some of the best family days out in the UK. And as we offer exclusive discounts on fantastic leisure and holiday venues to all our policyholders through our ChildCare Club, we’re going to be focusing on places that aren’t just fun for all ages, but also save you money.
1) Zip over to Go Ape
For a truly thrilling day out, Go Ape is unbeatable. With 37 locations across the country, adventure is only a short drive away. It’s also ideal for all ages from four-year-olds up. And talking of up! You can look forward to treetop challenges with high rope courses for kids and adults alike, as well as bouncy nets hanging 30 foot above the forest floor. Don’t have a head for heights? Why not try Forest Segways, Axe Throwing, Archery Tag or Forest Biking? Whatever you decide to do, you’re in for a fun-packed day that puts the great in the great outdoors.
2) Make a day of it at LEGOLAND
Everyone will love a day at LEGOLAND Windsor Resort. A theme park with a difference, it’s packed with 55 rides and attractions as well as shows and entertainment. In fact, there’s so much to see and do, one day won’t be enough! If Windsor is a bit far for a daytrip, there are also LEGOLAND Discovery Centres in Manchester and Birmingham. Both are indoor Lego playgrounds that bring your creativity and imagination to life. They’re specially designed for children aged 3-10 years with everything child sized!
3) Go wild at Chessington World of Adventures Resort
With a theme park, zoo and SEA LIFE Centre, this is Britain’s wildest family adventure. You can spend the day getting up close and personal with the wildlife that includes everything from lions and gorillas to white rhinos, giraffes and zebras. Followed by a splashing time at the SEA LIFE Centre with its amazing marine life including sharks, stingrays, sea horses and schools of fish. If you’ve still got the energy after all that, then head for the theme park with over 40 rides and attraction set over themed lands that include World of Jumanji.
4) Thrills await at The Alton Towers Resort
It’s the UK’s largest theme park and boasts an almost endless choice of family-fun and adrenalin-fuelled rides, which includes the new Toxicator for 2025 – if you’re feeling brave enough that is. For younger children there’s CBeebies Land which offer rides, attractions and show featuring all their favourite characters. Set in the heart of Staffordshire, Alton Towers is handy to get to from most parts of the UK.
5) Dive into a SEA LIFE Centre
We’ve already mentioned the SEA LIFE at Chessington World of Adventures Resort. But there are 11 in total around the country from Loch Lomond all the way down to Brighton and London. Each brings the magic of the sea to life as you discover an underwater world filled with sea creatures of all shapes and sizes. You can also get up close and personal with weird and wonderful creatures thanks to their fun interactive learning experiences.
6) Step back in time at Warwick Castle
For a truly historic day out, try Warwick Castle. Here you can discover over 1000 years of history climbing the towers and ramparts, exploring the castle’s many impressive rooms and enjoying the impressive gardens. There are also live shows and experiences you won’t want to miss, like jousting, falconry and the centuries-old art of archery.
7) Have a scream visiting The London, York or Edinburgh Dungeons
Immerse yourself into the darker side of history at one of these popular attractions. Each includes shows featuring live actors, frightening rides and lots and lots of horrible history. It’s not for the faint hearted, but you’ll be laughing as much as screaming!
8) Haven Holidays for a getaway that’s got it all
If you feel like a break, then Haven Holidays is for you. They’ve got 38 holiday parks in England, Scotland and Wales - all on the coast - so you’re sure to find the one for you. Especially as they offer loads of fun activities and entertainment for young and old alike. These can include indoor and outdoor pools with water slides, live shows and delicious dining options. And thanks to a choice of caravans and lodges, there’s also something to suit every budget.
We hope our list has helped inspire you for any days out, breaks or holidays during Easter and beyond. Whichever one you choose, remember you can look forward to a discount as a valued Morton Michel policyholder. You can find out more here.
