Local nursery plants 300 trees this Holiday season
Local nursery plants 300 trees this Holiday season and challenges the public to do the same
The Butterfly Patch, a nursery group based in six locations across South London and Surrey has raised funds to plant 300 trees this Christmas – one for every child in their nurseries - and a few extra for good measure!
This comes with a challenge for the public to do the same, with the hope to make a giant environmental impact this Christmas.
The trees planted so far will be part of the Eden Projects in Madagascar, in an area severely impacted by deforestation. These trees will capture a whopping 12 tonnes of CO2 emissions!
A spokesperson for the nursery group said: “Christmas is all about giving and we want to give back to the environment this year.
“We’re hoping to begin to offset our carbon footprint by fundraising to plant as many trees as possible.
“Our nurseries aim to inspire so we hope this will set an example for all children, showing them that caring for the environment is important and not an impossible task.”
