On May 17th, the Early Education and Childcare Coalition (EECC) launched its new manifesto, setting out proposals to ‘rescue and reform’ England’s early education and childcare sector.
Fears over whether settings will have capacity to meet the demands of the second phase are prominent, with the Department of Education recently estimating an extra 15,000 places are needed.
The report, titled “Prioritising early childhood for a happier, healthier society”, sets out the business case for investing in early childhood in the workplace, community, and wider society.
UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has announced a surprise early election which will take place on 4th July. For the childcare sector, the most important thing is to make sure our voices are heard.
